Step 1: Licenses & Regulations
FWC Licenses & PermitsYou must have the appropriate fishing license to fish legally in Florida and avoid fines and citations. Once you have determined where you will be fishing, purchase your FWC Fishing License for the appropriate type of fishing you will be doing. Check all FWC Requirements before fishing.

Step 2: Target a Species
Species Targeting GuideTargeting a species will provide a higher success rate because you will be able to key in on specific techniques, baits, and tackle that a certain species prefers or bites more than another. In freshwater, a largemouth bass has a larger mouth than a fish like a crappie, meaning different sized baits and tackle may be required based on what species your targeting. In saltwater, it is typical to target a group of species (i.e. inshore species, pelagic species, or bottomfish) although it is typical for anglers to still select one particular species.

Step 3: Determine Your Technique
Fishing Technique GuideAfter targeting your species, it is time to determine the technique you will be using based on the seasonal conditions, the body of water you will be fishing, and the available structure in that body of water. These factors will play a key roll in choosing the type of presentation you use, and if chosen correctly, will significantly improve your hook up rate and help you catch more fish.
